The 2015 Waipara Hills Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has been named in the top 10 of Cuisine Magazine’s recent NZ Sauvignon Blanc tasting. This fantastic wine was awarded five stars and the prized ‘Recommended by Cuisine’ sticker.
The team at Waipara Hills are delighted to be serving this award-winning Sauvignon Blanc at the Cellar Door and Café in the lead up to Christmas. Waipara Hills Head Chef Dylan Amyes suggests matching it with fresh scallops, snow pea, tomato, fennel and almond with a coriander glaze – the perfect starter to enjoy on Boxing Day with friends.
Waipara Hills winemaker, Simon McGeorge said this year’s fruit was sourced predominantly from Marlborough’s Wairau Valley.
“We have created a powerfully aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, brimming with character and liveliness,” he said, adding it was a slight departure from the classic style of tropical notes and elegant and ripe greens.
“It’s vibrant and exuberant, combined with a nice mid palate richness and a long lingering finish.”
Cuisine is synonymous with its highly respected, independent wine tastings, and the results over the years have formed an invaluable buying guide, allowing readers to trust the familiar Recommended by Cuisine sticker.
“This is a lovely glass of wine. Flavour-wise, it’s a Christmas stocking full of different treats including jasmine, musk, minerality and lime. It has a seamless quality (“skilfully made,” noted John Belsham) and resolves in a long, dry finish.” – Cuisine Tasting Panel.
