Accolade Wines, the world’s leading provider of New World premium, commercial and value wines, is celebrating following its recognition as International Wine Business of the Year at the prestigious Meininger Awards for ‘Excellence in Wine and Spirits’ in Dusseldorf, Germany on Saturday night (March 15, 2015).
Awarded annually to just one company that demonstrates outstanding achievement and leadership within the drinks industry, Meininger’s International Wine Business Award is recognised as the ultimate accolade for the industry.
Editor in chief of Meininger’s Wine Business International magazine, Felicity Carter, explained, “Accolade Wines have been responsible for bringing wine to the people. Often big companies are criticised for producing easy-drinking wines, but to be able to produce wines of consistently high-quality, across a variety of levels, is an achievement.”
The award was accepted by Hardys ambassador and fifth generation family winemaker, Bill Hardy, alongside Accolade Wines general manager, Europe, Middle East, South America and Africa, Ted Popov.
Mr Popov said the company was particularly delighted to be recognised by the Meininger Publishing House, the publishers of a range of wine and spirit industry publications including the respected Wine Business International, which covers the wine trade from a global perspective. The magazine covers both new and emerging markets, with articles written by acknowledged experts who either live within the market they’re reporting on, or who have intimate knowledge of it.
“Being recognised as an outstanding international wine business is particularly notable coming from Meininger’s since their annual recognition has become one of the industry’s most respected awards. Meininger’s recognises Accolade Wines as one of the dynamic, leading producers who have developed and created a successful combination of a strong brand portfolio, dedicated team of people globally and committed leadership,” Mr Popov said.
The Meininger awards are announced annually on the eve of the ProWein trade fair, which began in Dusseldorf on Sunday, March 15.
ill Hardy said it was a blast to receive the award on the eve of the world’s most important wine fair.
“The wine world came to our door at Prowein on Sunday morning and were queuing up to look at our wonderful portfolio,” Mr Hardy said.
Accolade Wines has a prominent stand at the fair showcasing its range of brands including Barossa Valley icon Grant Burge Wines, Hardys – Australia’s most powerful wine brand , plus other global brands from South Africa, New Zealand and California.
