House of Arras, Australia’s preeminent sparkling wine producer, has cemented its world class position after garnering recognition at the 2015 International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) held in London.

The 2002 House of Arras EJ Carr Late Disgorged, the pinnacle of the House of Arras portfolio, was awarded the Denbies Wine Estate Trophy for Bottle Fermented Sparkling Wine, representing the best of the best in bottle fermented sparkling wine craftsmanship, beating out sparkling wines from the UK, Italy, New Zealand and South Africa.

This accolade adds to the stellar streak of local and international wine show success for the 2002 vintage, with six Gold Medals, a Gold Outstanding and Top Gold as well as six Trophies already collected.

Ed Carr, House of Arras and Accolade Wines’ Chief Sparkling Winemaker, is overjoyed with the continued success of the House of Arras and proud of the IWSC results in particular.

“It is fantastic to receive such high endorsement from this esteemed international wine competition. There are many great quality bottle fermented sparkling wines from around the globe and it is particularly pleasing to have the House of Arras recognised within this group.

“This result strongly supports our commitment to our winemaking philosophy and the potential of Tasmanian vineyards from which to craft premium sparkling wine,” said Ed.

For Ed, the House of Arras represents the realisation of a 20 year vision to produce the best sparkling wine that Australia has ever seen using the very best Tasmanian fruit.

The House of Arras range consists of six award winning wines; A by Arras, Brut Elite, Grand Vintage, Blanc de Blancs, Rosé and EJ Carr Late Disgorged. Each sparkling wine spends considerable time on lees, ranging from three to 10 years across the range, and expresses the purity, clean air and cold climate of their origin.

Established in 1969, IWSC was the first competition of its kind, set up to seek out, reward and promote the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs. Now in its 46th year, The IWSC’s relentless pursuit of excellence underpins every aspect of the competition today.

Arras EJ Carr Late Disgorged Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir pays tribute to the dedication and inspiration of its maker, EJ Carr. This is a wine of great intensity and character, with excellent structural elegance and flavour persistence.
